Authorities have reported a robbery at a mosque in Male' which has been closed down for renovation.
The Male' City Council said that the Eid mosque was robbed between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm last night. It noted that 13 lights and cables for 8 fans were stolen from the property.
The City Council said it had filed a case with the police over the robbery.
The mosque has been robbed multiple times over the last few months.
Authorities said that last June alone, 11 fans were stolen from the mosque. A suspect was also arrested because of the robberies at the mosque.
The number of theft and robberies from mosques have been increasing over the last few months and authorities have not been able to take appropriate action against the growing number of cases.
