Local authorities have detained 22 undocumented migrants in the latest raids conducted in the capital Male' yesterday.

Immigration said that it carried out a raid in Male' near Galolhu Heena Maage Parking area yesterday based on tips received via 'Immigration Watch'.

It said that in the early morning raid, 14 migrants without valid permits to work in the Maldives were detained.

Meanwhile, Immigration also raided a migrant accommodation block in Maafanu ward of Male' yesterday. Immigration said that this raid was conducted based on information passed from the Male' City Council.

It also said that in the raid 8 undocumented migrants were detained from the accommodation blocks.

Immigration has teamed up security agencies to carry out raids against illegal migrants and have been hitting small businesses and other areas where illegal mirgants operate in the Greater Male' Area.
