President Dr Mohamed Muizzu appointed Mohamed Nimal as the Chief Executive Officer at the Local Government Authority this morning.

The appointment was made under the authority granted to him by Article 61(B) of the Decentralisation Act (Act No. 7/2010)

Mohamed Nimal previously served as the President of the Male' Atoll Council.

He had also served as Minister Counsellor, at the Maldives High Commission in Sri Lanka and Managing Director of Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC).

He also served as Managing Director and Board Member of FENAKA Corporation and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism.

Mohamed Nimal received his Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from Charles Sturt University, Australia.

Yesterday, news broke that the former CEO of LGA Dr. Mariyam Zulfa was dismissed from the post and given the post of State Minister at the Foreign Ministry. But the government did not give a reason why Zulfa was dismissed from her post at the LGA.
