The Foreign Ministry says Maldivian nationals traveling to Thailand for tourism, business engagements, or urgent work/ad-hoc work, are now entitled to visa exemption for up to 60 days.

The ministry announced today that the move comes with changes to the country's immigration rules.

It said this change has been in effect since the 15th of this month.

The Foreign Ministry further said that an additional period not exceeding 30 days may also be granted on request before the permission period expires.

It added extension of stay is solely at the discretion of Royal Thai Immigration.
