Police have urged the public not to take unnecessary sea trips amid worsening weather with rough conditions in major parts of the country.
In a post on X, Police said seas are expected to be rough with heavy rain in major parts of the country. Police urged all not to make unnecessary sea trips in this weather.
Police also advised to take all the necessary precautions when traveling via sea and not to travel in small vessels. They also advised the public not to make trips to uninhabited islands or sandbank trips and added that individuals must be cautious when going swimming in the sea.
Maldives Meteorological Service, the Met Office has been extending the Orange Alert it had issued over the central Atolls.
It had forecasted heavy rain, strong winds, and rough seas from Vaavu Atoll to Lhaviyani Atoll.
