Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer has departed for an official trip to India. The Foreign Ministry said that the Minister departed for the trip today.

It also said that the Minister will meet his Indian counterpart Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar and hold discussions on enhancing the longstanding partnership between the Maldives and India.

Minister Moosa Zameer posted on X saying that today's trip is his first official bilateral trip to India. Minister Zameer also said that he is looking forward to his meeting with his counterpart Dr. Jaishankar.

Minister Zameer further said that he is looking forward to engaging in a discussion on deepening and enhancing cooperation between the Maldives and India for the mutual benefit of both countries.

The Minister's trip to India comes days after both countries engaged in the 4th meeting of the High-level Core Group. After the meeting it was revealed that India will replace military personnel at the last of the three aviation platforms by 10 May and that all the logistical arrangements are going ahead as per schedule.

It was further agreed that the fifth meeting of the High-Level core Group will be held in Male’ on a mutually agreeable date during the month of June/July.
