Maldives National Defence Force MNDF says its Fire Station in Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhufushi today extinguished a fire that broke out in the kitchen of a house on the island.
MNDF said the fire incident was reported from 'Gonbulimaage' and the fire broke out in the kitchen. It said firefighters were dispatched to the location once the fire station received the report of the incident at 10:30 in the morning.
MNDF clarified the firefighters began extinguishing the fire and that they were able to completely put out the fire within 10 minutes at 10:40.
They further said that while no one was injured in the fire, the kitchen of the house sustained heavy damage.
MNDF did not reveal why the fire broke out in the first place. Fire incidents have grown common in the Maldives including in the inner islands.
