A newly married couple honeymooning in a resort in the Maldives has saved a local resort staff from drowning.
The incident happened at the Dusit Thani Maldives Resort in Baa Atoll.
The Police substation in Baa Atoll said that the resort staff fell into the sea while standing on the deck of a water villa on the resort. It stated that two tourists honeymooning at the resort saw the staff drowning and acted heroically to save her.
The Police station named the tourists Jordan Daniel Van Dyk and Danielle De Bruyn who saved the local staff from drowning. The Police commended the honeymooning couple for their quick thinking, allowing them to save the staff.
Police also presented the couple with a plaque of appreciation for their bravery.
