Voting has begun in six islands for today's by-election to fill vacant island council seats.
Voting began at 08:00 a.m. today and would continue till 4:00 p.m.
By-elections being held today include;
- By-election to elect Council President for Meemu Maduvaree
- By-election to elect Council member for Haa Alifu Utheem
- By-election to elect Council member for Noonu Landhoo
- By-election to elect Council member for Noonu Velidhoo
- By-election to elect Women's Development Committee member for Haa Alifu Thakandhoo
The Elections Commission said that 11 ballot boxes have been placed for today's by-elections. It said this includes 3 ballot boxes placed in Male' and another 8 in the islands.
The Commission shared that 5,267 individuals are eligible to vote in today's by-elections.
