This year's O'level exams have kicked off across the country today.
Speaking to the Press, the Education Ministry said 256 exam centers in the country would be holding the exam as well as the local exam SSC.
The Ministry said 7,501 students will sit for the O'level exams this year. Out of this 7,133 students would be sitting for the SSC exams for Dhivehi and Islamic studies. The Ministry noted that this was an increase of 803 students compared to last year.
The exams for the students who finish Grade 10 will go on from 25th April till 13 June. The O'level exams are locally considered a vital milestone in a student's life that would help shape their futures.
Over the recent years, the Maldives has done exceptionally well in several subjects in the O'levels with its students scoring highest from among all the students who sit for the exam in the world.
These subjects include English, Accounting as well as Chemistry and Economics.
