The father of former Foreign Minister and the President of the main opposition party MDP Abdullah Shahid passed away earlier this morning.
The 88-year-old Sheikh Moosa Jameel was 88 when he passed away. Reports suggest that he had been under treatment for an illness when he passed away. He was under treatment at ADK Hospital.
His funeral will be held after Asr prayers at the Islamic Center today.
Sheikh Moosa Jameel had been a judge before but spent most of his life as a teacher. He leaves behind a wife and three children including former Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid.
In a post, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu sent his condolences to the family of the deceased. The President stated that he was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the father of MDP's president.
The President prayed for the deceased place in Jannah and also prayed that his family be given strength in their time of grief.
