The ruling PNC has secured a parliamentary majority by securing most of the seats in the elections held today across the country.

Early reports suggest that PNC has secured 50 out of the 93 parliament seats of the 20th Parliament.

The ruling party could secure more seats in the parliament which would give it supermajority in the parliament.

The main opposition party MDP held the supermajority in the 19th Parliament but seems to have fallen short this time around losing seats it had held on for years. This includes the seat of Hinnavaru Constituency which the MDP held for over 30 years and is the seat of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih when he was an MP.

Notable PNC winners include President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's half sister Fathimath Saudha who secured the Parliament seat for Nilandhoo Constituencies.

Former MPs Abdul Raheem Abdullah and Ibrahim Shujau are also set to come back with wins for PNC in today's election.
