The People's National Front PNF, formed under the guidance of former President Abdullah Yameen, has confirmed that it will hold its much-awaited inaugural meeting tomorrow night.

The meeting is set to be held on the initial date and at the initial venue (Ghiyasuddin School) as the party had first announced. The Party's unofficial spokesperson and former government Minister Maleeh Jamal had said last night that the meeting had been indefinitely postponed due to the lack of cooperation from different government agencies.

In a turnaround, Maleeh said today that the meeting would go on as initially announced at Ghiyasuddin School at 09:15 p.m. He further said that jailed ex-President Yameen would be participating in the meeting and invited all the members of the party to the meeting.

Yameen, who is serving his jail sentence under house arrest, has not been permitted by the corrections to take part in such political gatherings.\

The former President was convicted of money laundering and accepting bribes back in December of 22 and sentenced to 11 years in jail. His lawyers have filed an appeal at the High Court but the proceedings have been delayed with the latest hearing held in November of last year.

Yameen was transferred from jail to house arrest back in September after President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu won the Presidential Election.
