Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar has confirmed that the government is working to reopen the water fountain in Republic Square for Eid Al-Fitr.
In a post via X, the Minister said that the Ministry is expediting the work to repair the water Fountain and is looking to reopen the fountain for Eid.
Minister Shareef added that the work to reopen the fountain is being done under the direct guidance of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The government initially planned to reopen the water fountain for Ramadan but the work was delayed.
The Minister had told the Press before that the water fountain required major repairs and that it would be more spectacular once it was completed.
The water fountain is being repaired as a corporate social responsibility project of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company MTCC.
