MP for Galolhu North Constituency Eva Abdullah says parliament members not attending sessions gives the government the power to do whatever it wants.
Her comments came after the Parliament was unable to hold the session scheduled for today as the number of MPs required to hold sessions was not met with only 11 MPs in attendance. With 87 Parliamentary seats, at least 22 MPs are required to hold parliamentary sessions.
Expressing concerns about the cancellation, MP Eva said in a post on 'X' that the biggest responsibility given to the parliament was holding the government accountable and acting as its watchdog.
She said that MPs not attending parliament sessions gives the government the power to do as it pleases.
Most of the MPs are busy with re-election campaigns and campaigns for party candidates competing in the upcoming Parliamentary elections.
This includes Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Aslam and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Ahmed Saleem who are on their travels for campaigining.
