Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare Dr. Aishath Rameela has started attending office after her cancer treatment.
It has been reported that the Minister took part in the cabinet meeting held today.
Last November, the Minister revealed via a post on Facebook that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was traveling abroad for treatment. She said that she would be getting Hyperthermic (or Heated) Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) as well as radiation therapy as part of her treatment.
Today, the Minister said via X that she was revealed to be back home with loved ones having undergone 9 sessions of Chemotherapy without many side effects.
Minister Rameela said that she was hoping to make the of the next few weeks before she starts the 2nd phase of her treatment.
he did not reveal where she would be seeking the treatment and the nature of the cancer she was fighting.
But HIPEC is a surgical procedure that's giving new hope to patients with abdominal cancers.
Minister Rameela was appointed as the Minister of the newly formed Ministry on the 17th of November 2023. Defence Minister Ghassan Maumoon had been overseeing the Animal Welfare Ministry in her absence.
