Former President Abdullah Yameen has aimed a dig at the current administration for its reluctance to investigate previous threats to national security.
Yameen made his comments while speaking at a political gathering held by his breakaway party PNF last night.
The Former President said for nationwide reform, it is not enough to adopt a zero tolerance on corruption and work against just preventing corruption.
Yameen said that the last five years under former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has been the most corrupt five years in the country's history. He noted that the country is still reeling from these crimes and the current president Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is also promising to stop corrupt practices.
Yameen said, however, that the current administration has failed to attend many of these practices since it came into power. He went on to question why the current administration has yet not acted to investigate threats to national security brought on by previous administrations.
The former President repeated his allegations of massive election fraud during the 2018 Presidential election in which Solih defeated him. Yameen said that the leadership of PPM/PNC used to talk about these allegations but they do not do so now.
He added that concern from government agencies have also waned on the subject.
