India has allocated a staggering USD 93 million to the Maldives in its revised budget for the fiscal year 2023/2024.

Indian media speculated that the increased allocation in the interim Budget reaffirms India's commitment to furthering major infrastructure initiatives and development projects in the Maldives.

India is supporting the country's biggest infrastructure project, the Greater Malé Connectivity Project (GMCP).

The South Asian superpower had allocated a whopping USD 788 to foreign countries with Bhutan set to receive the most as India allocated USD 94 million to its South Asian neighbor.

Second on the list is the Maldives despite the recent tensions between the two countries.

It has been reported that India is set to include a sizeable allocation to the Maldives in its budget for the fiscal year 2024/2025.
