An Egyptian company has expressed interest in the development of the Addu City Bridge, Presidential Office Public Policy Secretary Abdullah Nazim said.

Nazim said the proposal submitted by The Arab Contractors was discussed at the Economic Council meeting held last week.

The company has indicated that it will voluntarily conduct the surveys related to the Addu City Bridge. The Economic Council has agreed to do so through the company if it is ready to do so, he said.

The allocated funds in this year’s budget for the survey of the bridge connecting Hithadhoo and Hulhudhoo is one of the largest pile of funds allocated for a individual project.

The project was previously announced when Dr. Muizzu was the minister for Construction and Infrastructure ministry. Since than the project was parked on changing of governemnt. During the last election campaign both former ruling party, MDP and running administration pledge to built the bridge again.

Current minister for ministry, Abdullah Muthalib said the feasibility and design work of the Addu city Bridge will be handed over very soon.
