Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Aslam has departed to Sri Lanka on an official trip to the South Asian neighbor.
The Parliament said that the Speaker is making his visit upon the invitation of the Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka. It said that the Speaker's trip is a four-day visit and that he is expected to return on the 19th of this month.
The Parliament said that on his trip, the Speaker would visit the Sri Lankan parliament and meet with the officials from the legislative house as well as tour the house.
Several MPs accompanied the Speaker on his trip to Sri Lanka. They include the MP for Hulhumale' Constituency Ali Niyaz, MP for Henveriu South Constituency Hussain Shaheem, and MP for Henveiru Central Constituency Ali Azim.
Councillor General of the Parliament Fathimath Niusha is also accompanying the Speaker on his trip to Sri Lanka.
