Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdullah Muththalib says numerous investors from China have shown interest in the Addu City project announced under the government of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
He made the comments following the Invest Maldives Forum held at the Fuzhou Strait International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Fuzhou, China.
Minister Muththalib said that discussions were held about the Addu City Bridge at the forum and that it peaked the attention of numerous investors from China.
The Minister further said that the government had already received a proposal from a potential contractor for the project and that the Ministry was reviewing the proposal.
Noting that the Ministry would currently prioritize finalizing the feasibility study and design of the project, it can complete the work within the first 100 days of the government.
This government came into power with the pledge of building a bridge that connects all the linked islands of Addu City and promised to make the City a commercial hub in the South.
