The new administration has begun issuing land plot registries and allocating land plots to those who received land under the previous government's housing scheme for Male' residents 'Binveria Housing Scheme'.
The Housing Ministry said that it would be contacting those who are yet to sign the agreement via phone and SMS to give time and dates. The Ministry also stated that those who need to change the details of the signed agreements must contact the Ministry.
The former government had halted issuing land registries and allocating land plots after the first round of the Presidential election held last September.
Though comments from the new government threw the whole scheme into doubt, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu clarified via a post on X that his government would remain true to his presidential pledges and resume issuing registers and allocate land plots to those who have been included in the final list of land plot recipients.
The President had also indicated that some of the areas from which land plots have been issued are yet to be reclaimed, land reclamation would be hastened under this government.
