Road Development Corporation RDC has resumed work on road construction projects that were assigned to the Corporation by the outgoing government.
Work has now begun on 17 islands across the country. These projects were slow to progress under the last administration and attracted heavy criticism from many over the lack of substantial progress.
This includes four islands from the Northern Atolls including Haa Alifu Dhidhoo, Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhfushi, Shaviyani Milandhoo, and Raa Hulhudhufaaru. Construction work would also resume in 7 islands in the central region and 6 islands in the southern region.
RDC is also swiftly completing the reconstruction of Ameenee Magu in Male' with the last segment of the bustling road expected to be finished by early next month.
Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Abdullah Muththalib said yesterday that as the last segment of Ameenee Magu is frequently used by buses, the road would be widened when it is completed.
He added that RDC is aiming to complete the project before the schools reopen. Local schools reopen for the second term of the academic year on the 7th of next month.
