President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met the leader of the Jumhooree Party Qasim Ibrahim.
The President's Office confirmed via 'X' that the meeting happened at the President's Office earlier today. However, the President's Office did not reveal the details of the discussions held between the two leaders.
The discussions are likely to be on the upcoming Parliamentary Elections. The Jumhooree Party has held discussions with MDP as well as PNC on the same topic but has yet to agree with any party.
The Party had then decided to field candidates for all 93 constituencies of the Parliament in the upcoming elections and opened applications for the slots till next Tuesday.
The ruling PNC is competing in the elections alongside the PPM and MNP and has now accepted most of the applications for the primaries ahead of the Parliamentary elections next year.
Qasim, who is also the MP for the Maamigili Constituency, has competed in the last Presidential elections for JP but only received just 5,600 votes in the first round of the vote.
While then-President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih from MDP and current President Muizzu from PNC went to the second round, Qasim decided not to back either candidate.
