The Administration had detailed the expenses of the President's recent foreign visit, as per his pledge, during a press conference conducted by the Chief Spokesperson at the President’s Office, Mohamed Shahyb, and the Under Secretary for Public Policy at the President's Office, Uz Firzul Abdulla Khaleel, at the President’s Office this afternoon.
This is the first meeting with the local media initiated by the Government, providing a detailed breakdown of the expenses of the President's visit. The meeting follows President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to disclose the costs incurred on his overseas trip within 15 days following the conclusion of his overseas visit. These visits have created significant investment opportunities for the nation.
During the press conference, Spokesperson Shahyb mentioned that the total cost of the President's official visits to both the Republic of Turkey and the United Arab Emirates to attend the Twenty-Eighth Session of the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) amounted to 3,489,165.12, or three million, four hundred eighty-nine thousand, one hundred sixty-five rufiyaa twelve laari.
He also provided a separate breakdown of the President's travel costs to the UAE and Turkey and detailed information on ticket costs, pocket money, and other expenses.
President Dr Muizzu has previously declared that he and the Vice President would not travel first class during overseas visits.
