Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef arrived back in the Maldives earlier today after concluding his official visit to Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in the high-level event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Human Rights 75) held in Geneva.
The Vice President attended the Opening Ceremony panel discussion on human rights at the Human Rights 75 high-level event, where he stressed that equality emphasizes the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the inherent dignity of all individuals, leaving no room for partiality.
He also attended the Roundtable on the Future of Human Rights, Environment, and Climate of the Human Rights 75 high-level event, reiterating the urgent need for global solidarity to address environmental challenges. He additionally met with dignitaries from other countries and heads of UN agencies on the sidelines of the event.
Before traveling to Geneva, the Vice President made an official visit to the People’s Republic of China to attend the ‘China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation’ organized by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), which was held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.
