President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Mohamed Shahyb as the Chief Spokesperson at the President's Office.
The ceremony to present the letter of appointment was held at the President’s Office on Wednesday morning.
Shahyb has been a distinguished journalist for more than 30 years and won the National Award of Recognition in 2004 for his contributions to news and information dissemination.
In 2007, he was awarded the National Award of Recognition for his contributions to Dhivehi literature and the Dhivehi language.
In 2019, he also received the 'Alimas Galan' journalism award, granted to the nation's finest journalists. He additionally presided over the Maldives Broadcasting Commission as its President.
