Chief of Defense Force (CDF) Major General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latif has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.
A special ceremony was held at the Bandaarakoshi oday. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu presented the rank of Lieutenant General to the Chief of Defense Force.
Lt. Gen. Abdul Raheem Abdul Latif is the third person in military history to reach the rank of Lieutenant General.
Previous recipients of the rank were Lt. Gen. (retired) Anbaree Abdul Sattar and Lt. Gen. (retired) Abdullah Shamal.
Shamal, who was the last Chief of Defense Force, retired last month after 35 years of service.
