The Road Development Corporation RDC has today resumed the redevelopment of the Ameenee Magu project as the Corporation looks to complete the project within the first 14 weeks of this government.
RDC said that work on segments 12 and 13 of one of the capital's most bustling streets began today. The corporation has been redeveloping the busy road in segments after dividing it into 13 segments.
The Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdullah Muththalib said in a post on X that it is a priority of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to complete the redevelopment of Ameenee Magu.
He further said that this includes upgrading the existing stormwater management system to address the flooding issue.
The former government had completed the Ameenee Magu up until the Housing Ministry. RDC was assigned the project in July of 2022 with the first completion date set at February of this year.
However, the project was delayed and the outgoing administration set the new complete date for September of this year but failed to deliver on time.
