Police say they have launched a search operation after a youth from Noonu Atoll Milahoo was reported missing.
Police identified the missing person as 30-year-old Muhrath Ali from Gumreege, Noonu Miladhoo.
They also said that his family reported him missing yesterday and that his family last had any contact with him on Sunday.
Police said that according to his family, Muhrath works on a landcraft being operated on Kaafu Thilafushi. Police also said that the missing person was last seen on the landing craft he works and that was last Sunday around 5:00 p.m.
Police shared that at that time he was wearing a checkered red shirt.
They urged the public to contact the police hotline 332 2111 or Villimale' Police Station number 983 30000 if the public has any information on the missing person or his whereabouts.
Missing persons' cases have grown in recent months with both adults as well as children being reported missing frequently.
While most cases have been resolved successfully, some result in tragedy as in the case of Mohamed Azhan who was reported missing in September of 2022.
His remains were found the following month in a land plot yet to be developed in Phase 1 of Hulhumale'. He was reported missing from Phase II of Hulhumale. His case remains unsolved.
