President Dr Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed on Tuesday that Maldivians will always support the Palestinian people and their cause, stating the Maldives’ commitment to assisting them in every possible way.

He made the statement while addressing the Chairman and Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey, Professor Dr Numan Kurtulmuş, and his fellow parliamentarians who were present at the Parliament Building in Ankara.

President Muizzu stated it was a great privilege and honor to choose Turkey as the first country to visit after the assumption of office. He emphasized the significance of being invited to meet with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

While reflecting on his fruitful discussions with the Turkish President, which covered various important topics, President Muizzu conveyed his delight and appreciation for President Erdoğan and the unwavering support of the Turkish government.

President Dr Muizzu highlighted the strategic geographical location of the Maldives in the vast Indian Ocean and pointed out that the country's exclusive economic zone encompasses a sizable area, emphasizing its significance due to geographical dispersion.

The President further went on to state that the Maldives will collaborate closely with all stakeholders, underscoring the importance of our sovereignty and independence. He reiterated his unwavering commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the Maldivian people and delivering on his presidential pledges, adding that it was the primary objective at the forefront of his election campaign.
