Maldives Correctional Services have launched an investigation after jailed ex-President Abdullah Yameen, who is under house arrest, made an appearance at the office of the new party he has spearheaded.
The Party named People's National Front PNF held a membership drive in its office last night and Yameen went to the office last night.
The media official at corrections said that Yameen's appearance at the PNF office has come to their attention and that Corrections has launched an investigation into the accident. The official added that reprimand action would be taken if necessary.
Yameen, who was serving his 11-year jail sentence at Maafushi jail for his conviction in relation to the MMPRC scandal was transferred to his home in Male' on the 1st of October a day after President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu won the second round of the Presidential election.
Corrections said later on that the former President was now under home confinement with limited chance to leave his house. This includes crucial meetings, medical appointments, as well as for exercises.
The ex-President decided to leave the ruling PPM last Thursday and said that the leaders of PPM as well as sister party PNC were not heeding his advice.
