Male' City Councillor for Galolhu North Constituency Mohamed Saif Fathih says the city council has not been able to hold its general session for two weeks due to a lack of quorum.
Expressing concern over the matter, Saif said it had been the second week since the general formal session was canceled due to a lack of quorum.
Saif went on to call on the ruling coalition to put much-needed pressure on the councilors to run the city council. Saif also said that the stagnation of the city council is unacceptable as Council work keeps on mounting.
The agenda of the city council meeting includes discussions on the construction of a swimming track in Villimalé and the construction of a toilet at the expense of the city council.
Meanwhile, the council will discuss reserving at least 20 percent of the 2,000 housing units for residents on the register, as well as an announcement to relocate the Village Community Garden to another area. Four residents of Villimalé have submitted a complaint that the lack of a nursery in Villimalé is difficult

The position of Mayor of the City Council also became vacant when Mohammed Muizzu was elected President. Two members of the council have been appointed as ministers in the President's Office. The two councilors are Medhuhenveyru Constituency Councilor Adam Rameez and Maafannu Dhekunu Constituency Councilor Abdullah Naseer (Abbro). In addition, Fatima Shamnaz Ali Salim, who was a councilor for Henveyru South Constituency, has been appointed as State Minister of the President's Official House.
