President Dr.Mohamed Muizzu is expected to depart to Saudi Arabia tomorrow which would make the Gulf nation the destination of the new president's first trip abroad.

It has been reported that Muizzu is making a three-day trip to the Kingdom.

This came after Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed announced that the Saudi Arabian cabinet has given the green light to the country's General Authority for Foreign trade to strike an agreement with the Maldives on investments in the commercial field.

Some local media outlets have reported that President Muizzu is expected to kick start the talks for an agreement during his trip to Saudi.

A day after his inauguration as the 8th President of the Republic of Maldives, President Muizzu met with the Special Envoy from the King of Saudi Arabia, Minister of Economy and Planning of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim.

In the meeting, President Muizzu and Saudi Arabia's Minister of Economy and Planning had extensive discussions regarding strengthening development cooperation such as trade, investment, and economic corporations.

The President also stated that the Maldives would continue to assist efforts to battle global terrorism and expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia's efforts to bring peace to the Middle East, particularly in Palestine.
