Many on social media have lauded a small gesture by the former MP for Guraidhoo Constituency and Defense Minister Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon during the presidential inauguration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The ceremony was held at the Republic's Square earlier this evening and many across the country were watching the inauguration ceremony of the 8th President of the Maldives.
Even before the ceremony officially began, netizens noticed a simple moment of utter respect from the newly sworn-in Minister as former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his wife and Former First Lady Fazna Ahmed walked past him toward their seats for the ceremony.
Ghassan was sitting alone at his designated seat as the former President walked by and while others around him merely looked on, Ghassan was seen jumping to his feet and standing up when he saw that it was President Solih who was walking by him.
Many applauded the son of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom for his respectful gesture and aimed praise at his father and mother for his sound upbringing.
