Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special envoy has arrived in Maldives for the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
China will be represented at the ceremony by the President's Special Envoy and State Councilor Shen Yixin. Shen Yixin was welcomed at the airport by former Tourism Minister Musa Zameer.
Welcoming Shen, Musa Zameer tweeted today that China and Maldives have strong ties and that the country is a very important partner for Maldives in foreign policy. He also said that he appreciates China's close relations with Maldives.
Shen will reportedly conclude her visit and leave on the 18th of this month.
The invitations for the ceremony to be held this Friday have been sent to the country's allies.
Neighboring India is sending its Earth and Science Minister Kiren Rijiju for the ceremony.
