The Addu City Council said the permanent list of the first round of land allocations will be announced before the end of November.

After 26 years of not allocating land in Addu, many people have applied for land in January this year. However, many people are expressing concern over the delay in allocating land.

Replying to a question from The Press, the Addu City Council said that the necessary administrative works are being carried out to allocate the 1,000 plots in the first phase. The permanent list of land recipients will be made public with the points received. However, it is difficult to say the exact date of the list.

The permanent list of land allocation recipients was released on September 06, 2 days before the presidential election. With the list released that day, the city council said that all eligible beneficiaries would be given land and the recipients would be given land on different days.

A total of 4,052 plots will be allocated in four islands in Addu. it is;

• 500 plots from Hithadhoo

• 300 plots from Feydhoo

• 100 plots from Hulhudhoo

• 100 plots from Meedhoo

2,000 acres will be allocated in Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo while 1,500 acres will be allocated in Hithadhoo and Feydhoo.

The other listed beneficiaries will be allocated land in the second phase after the land use plan and survey of the land added to the neighborhoods is completed. The council aims to allocate land to all those on the list by June 2024, the council said.
