Members of the Anti-Corruption Commission ACC have searched the Housing Ministry in relation to a case the Commission is investigating.
This investigation relates to the allocation of the 4,000 flats developed by the Government which it issued under the first phase of the Gedhoruverin Housing Scheme earlier this week.
The ACC dispatched a Quick Response Team to the Ministry earlier today and the Press has confirmed this.
This comes after the ACC ordered the Ministry to halt all work related to the allocation of the housing units after the Commission launched an investigation following complaints were filed about the allocation.
ACC said that the order was given as it was investigating a case filed accusing authorities of not adhering to the point awarding system when giving marks to applicants to give preference to some people.
ACC further said that it has instructed the Ministry to set up a complaints system for the final list of flat recipients and not carry out any flat allocation work till all the complaints have been further checked.
Earlier this week, the Ministry published the final list of flat recipients of both 2-room and 3-room housing units and indicated that this list includes the recipients of the 4,000 flats currently being built by state-owned Fahi Dhiriulhunn Corporation FDC.
The Ministry said in a statement that the 4,000 recipients include those who received above 76 marks in the final list for three-room apartments and those who received above 73 marks for two-room apartments.
It also said that the flat draw for the recipients would be held soon and that they would be informed about the date and time via the Gedhoruveriya Portal.
However many are expressing concerns over how points were awarded and say that the points have not been given fairly and justly.
Many stormed the reception of the Housing Ministry yesterday voicing out their concerns for the allocation of the Housing Units.
Speaking to those gathered, Permanent Secretary at the Housing Ministry Zeeniya Ahmed said that the points were awarded based on the information provided on the application forms.
With many complaining about the permanent list, the Ministry has given all applicants a chance to submit complaints about the permanent list from today till this Thursday via the Gedhoruveriya portal.
