Director of Transition Abdul Raheem Abdullah (Adhurey) says PNC is trying to increase its membership because of any disagreements with PPM and that the two parties would continue to work together in the future.

He said this in comments to the media before departing to Addu City with members of the PPM/PNC coalition leadership.

Adhurey said that though President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has instructed to find 10,000 more members for PNC, he had clearly stated that this should not include changing PPM members from the party to PNC.

He further clarified that when former President Abdullah Yameen said that PPM members should not have to change to PNC, he meant it in the sense that the two parties were of the same ideologies and should not have to swap members.

Adhurey said that the reason to increase PNC membership without taking away members from PPM was because PNC would essentially come into power with a membership of just around 3,000 and that this was not the best way.

He added that PNC had not attempted to bolster its membership since its inception.

Adhurey also touched on the absence of PNC leadership at a meeting where PPM Leader Yameen met with its members. Adhurey said that President-elect Muizzu was also having a meeting at the same time and the leadership of PNC had no intention of snubbing a meeting with Yameen.
