The Finance Ministry has submitted the Proposed State Budget for 2024 to the Parliament.
In a statement, the Ministry said that it had submitted the Proposed State Budget for 2024 as per Article 96 (A) of the Constitution to the Parliament today.
The Ministry clarified that it submitted a Proposed State Budget of MVR 49.5 billion for next year.
It further said that the Ministry had submitted the details stipulated under the Public Accounts Act and the Fiscal Responsibility Act to the Parliament.
The Ministry added that it would clarify the details of the budget when the Ministry gives its budget statement to the parliament at a later date.
The Ministry was supposed to submit the Supplementary Budget for this year at today's Parliamentary session but was unable to do so as MDP MPs disrupted the Parliamentary session.
The disruption came after the Parliament secretariate put the budget ahead of the no-confidence resolution against the Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed on its agenda.
