President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says the PPM/PNC Coalition is working to issue an allowance to female members who win parliamentary seats in the upcoming parliamentary election.

In a post via 'X', President-elect Muizzu said that he wishes to see many women win parliamentary seats in the next election. He called on the coalition supporters to elect female representatives to 20 percent of the Parliamentary seats on behalf of the PPM/PNC coalition.

Muizzu also said that to further encourage this initiative, the coalition is working on setting an allowance for the party's female members who win Parliamentary seats in the upcoming election.

He added that this allowance would be in addition to the salary and other allowances given to the MPs as past of their posts.

The Parliamentary Election is scheduled for early next year but the Elections Commission is yet to announce a date.

However, the Commission had confirmed that it had decided to increase Parliamentary constituencies from 87 to 93 for the next Parliament due to the increase in the country's population.

Political parties are gearing up for their own primaries to field candidates for 93 constittuencies with several individuals now announcing their intend to compete in the election.
