The land reclamation project for the development of Haa Dhaalu Makundhoo has been temporarily suspended after a gas cylinder explosion killed two yesterday.
It has been reported that the project was suspended because of the blast that happened at the project site. The two killed in the accident have been identified as two Indian nationals working at the site.
The powerful explosion rocked the island of Makunudhoo yesterday evening and damaged several vehicles in the area. Maldives National Defense Force MNDF and Police are collecting forensic evidence from the scene of the blast.
The victims of the blast were thrown by the force of the explosion and body parts of the two individuals were scattered around the scene of the explosion.
Authorities said that they were attempting to transfer the remains of the victims to Male' for further investigation.
