One of the most talented actors to grace the Maldivian film screens, Ali Seezan has decided to run for the parliament in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

He had announced that he would be taking a break from acting earlier this month but did not divulge why he was stepping away from the industry.

Speaking to 'The Press, Seezan said that he took a break from acting to compete in the Parliamentary election and that he would contest for the PPM/PNC ticket for the Thulusdhoo Constituency.

Seezan said during his career he had worked mostly in the rural areas and had fostered a close relationship with those living in the inner islands.

The actor further said that he was confident that he could help the constituents as a member of the parliament for PPM/PNC and that he was confident that he would be able to win the seat for Thulusdhoo Constituency.

Seezan's decision to dive into the political scene comes as his film 'Kalhaki' plays on Olympus screens. His production company was behind bringing the movie 'Kaushi' to Maldivian screens which starred Singalese stars earlier this year.
