Transitional Spokesperson Mohamed Firuzul Abdullah Haleel says President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu would take his oath of office at a ceremony to be held on the 17th of November at the Republic Square.
Speaking at a press briefing today, Firuzul said that under the law, the swearing-in ceremony is essentially a Parliament session, Speaker of the Parliament is overseeing the arrangements.
He further said that President-elect Muizzu wants to have the ceremony on the 17th of next month at Republic Square and the Parliament has assured that these arrangements can be made.
Firuzul added that the arrangements would be changed in case of bad weather.
Muizzu, who is the Mayor of Male' City, won the Presidential election against incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih by claiming a staggering 129,159 votes.
President Solih received 109,868 votes and has since promised a smooth transition of power next month.
