President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with the Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed and members of the Parliament.
The meeting took place at the Parliament today at 11:00 a.m.
The Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Eva Abdullah received President-elect Muizzu at the entrance of the Parliament.
The President-elect was then greeted by MPs from different parties who lined up to congratulate Muizzu who is currently the Mayor of Male' City.
The President-elect then wrote in the visitor's book of the Parliament before sitting down for a meeting with the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker, and other MPs. Vice President-elect MP for Faresmaathoda Hussain Latheef also took part in the meeting.
Muizzu defeated incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih with a difference of more than 19,000 votes in the Presidential Election held last month.
He is expected to take his oath of office on the 17th of November.
Speaking to his supporters at a packed social center last night, President-elect Muizzu said that he and his team were working towards being ready to take over the government by the 17th of next month and said that he hoped the Parliament would give full cooperation during the transitional period.
