Chairperson of MDP Fayyaz Ismail says as the opposition MDP will continue to responsibly hold the government accountable.
This comes after the opposition PPM/PNC Coalition defeated MDP in the Presidential Election and secured their way back to power after the 5-year rule of MDP.
PNC Candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu secured 54 percent of the votes while MDP Candidate Incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih received 46 percent of the vote.
In a post via 'X', Fayyaz, who is also the Economic Minister, congratulated Muizzu and his running mate MP for Faresmaathoda Constituency Hussain Latheef for winning the Presidential Election.
He further said that as the opposition MDP will continue to responsibly hold the government accountable and ensure the protection of democratic principles in the Maldives.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had congratulated President-Elect Muizzu last night and thanked the Maldivian people for upholding the democratics ways by voting.
