Elections Commission says more than 221,000 voters have cast their votes with less than an hour remaining for voting in the Presidential Run-Off being held today.

The Commission said that by 16:00 p.m. this evening 221,496 people had voted in the election. It said that this was 78.32 percent of the eligible voters for the run-off.

The Commission also said that the voters who cast their ballots include 111,273 women and 110,223 men.

It said that more than 61,000 voters were yet to cast their ballots at 04:00 pm this evening.

Voting began at 08:00 a.m. this morning and will be closed at 05:00 p.m. in the evening. Elections Commission has indicated that officials with sign boards would step at the back of the queue at sharp 5 and that no voter can join the voting queue behind the official.

The Commission has also said that the time for voting would not be extended beyond 05:00 p.m.

Ballot counting would begin 30 minutes after voting closes. The preliminary result of the election Run-Off is expected later tonight.
