Vice President of the Elections Commission Ismail Habeeb says voting has begun in more than 80 percent of the ballot boxes.
He said this in a post on 'X' and did not give details about why voting has not begun for the rest of the ballot boxes.
The Elections Commission has placed 586 ballot boxes across the country including 187 ballot boxes in the Greater Male' area, 3,119 in the inner islands, and 5 in the resorts.
Voting began at 08:00 a.m. today and will continue till 05:00 p.m in the evening.
The Elections Commission added an extra hour after they assessed the experience of the first round of voting in the election held on the 9th of this month.
Voting for the first round was held from 08:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m. with the voting officials closing the voting queues promptly on time. But many complaint that they lost their right to vote because of this.
