PNC Presidential Candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has cast his vote in the Presidential Run-Off being held today.
Muizzu, who is also the Mayor of Male' City, cast his vote in the Maafanu Dhekunu ballot box number 1. This ballot box is placed at Thaajudheen School. His running mate and MP for Faresmaathoda Hussain Latheef has also cast his vote in the run-off.
Muizzu's opponent MDP Presidential Candidate President Mohamed is expected to cast his vote around 10:00 a.m. today.
He secured the most votes in the first round of voting held earlier this month by claiming more than 100,000 votes. Muizzu is seeking to end President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's regime and bring the opposition back into power.
Voting began at 08:00 a.m. earlier today and would continue till 05:00 p.m. this evening.
For the Run-Off, 282,804 individuals are eligible to vote with more than 400 new voters this round.
The Elections Commission has placed 586 ballot boxes across the country including 187 ballot boxes in the Greater Male' area, 3,119 in the inner islands, and 5 in the resorts.
