A motorist has died after a car and a motorcycle collided on the Link Road in Laamu Gan. The victim of the fatal crash was the motorcycle rider.
Police said that it received the report of the collision on Gan Link Road at 06:25 p.m.
The cyclist and one of the two occupants of the car sustained serious injuries and were taken to Gan Regional Hospital for treatment.
Police said that the 41-year-old driver of the motorcycle died at 1:51 a.m. earlier this morning while being treated at the hospital.
They said that the 28-year-old car driver involved in the collision was also receiving treatment at the hospital.
Police said that the driver did not have a valid license to drive a car and that they were further investigating the incident.
Driving without a valid vehicle license is illegal but it is the most common traffic violation committed in the Maldives especially among the youth.
